Busitema University is a multi-campus model accredited public University located in the Eastern Uganda. The University opened its doors to the first cohort of students on 3rd October 2007.

The University has 6 located in 6 Districts in Eastern Uganda; Busitema Campus in Busia, Nagongera Campus in Tororo, Mbale campus in Mbale, Pallisa Campus in Pallisa, Arapai campus in Soroti and Namasagali Campus in Kamuli.

Busitema University Main Campus is located 28 km from Tororo town along Tororo-Jinja highway, about 210 km East of Kampala City.

The University Kampala liason office is at Makerere University Lincoln building. Additionally, the university has a Study Centre in Jinja City and another one in Tororo Town

Limited accommodations are available within the campuses at affordable rates. However, there are many accredited private hostels around the University.

This will depend with the type of the programme you wish to study. You may apply for up to four programmes, which will be considered sequentially in the order of your application form.

Yes, it is. You write a formal request regarding your visit to the Academic Registrar and dean of faculty for arrangement and planning of the intended visit.

One must have at least a minimum of two principle passes at A’ level or equivalent in the required subjects

Yes. The University does admit qualified International students who have applied and have their certificates equated with the Ugandan education system, that is, National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB)

Quality assurance is a planned and systematic review process of the university to ensure acceptable standards of teaching/learning, research, community engagement, infrastructure and other support services are being met, maintained and enhanced. Quality Assurance ensures all parties concerned with the university adhere to the process and procedures, standards and guidelines and test readiness reviews.

The University is committed through its mission statement to providing high quality education that is internationally recognised and relevant. The University is committed to maintaining its academic standards, and continuously improving all of its activities and services. The DQA acts as a liaison with other units of the University to develop and continually improve the process that lead to stakeholders and customer satisfaction

It is the level of achievement a student has to reach to gain an academic award. This level should be comparable to similar programmes at least all across Uganda

Academic quality describes how well the learning opportunities available to students help them to achieve their award. It is about making sure that appropriate and effective teaching, support, assessment and learning opportunities are provided

It is the outcome or successful completion of a course or programme of study that leads to a qualification - such as a degree, diploma or certificate, or other formal recognition

Quality audit is a quality assurance review process that focuses on the procedures a university or uses to assure its academic standards and quality. It evaluates how the university satisfies itself that its chosen standards are being achieved and makes a judgement about threshold standards. The purpose of Quality audits is to provide public information on the academic standards of a university’s awards and the quality of the learning opportunities available to students.

The University needs to do this in order to maximise global career prospects of its graduates and achieve compliance, recognition or accreditation of its programmes by accreditation and professional bodies, attract high-caliber students and staff, and maximize the engagement, reputation and credibility of both within the region and in the global community
